GEDCOM (GEnealogy Data COMmunication) is a common format for transmitting genealogic data. GEDCOM was invented by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
One of the most known problem is the conversion/transfer problem of genealogic data.
Till now none of the actual genealogic programs on the market is supporting the full actual GEDCOM standard. The latest Versions are Standard Release 5.5, Std. Draft Release 5.5.1 and Std. Draft Release 6.0 (XML). You get the documentations of those standards from the GEDCOMfilter projectspage at SourceForge.
This is the point where GEDCOMfilter introduces itself.
Target of GEDCOMfilter is to develop filters for various platforms (e.g. PHP, Java, C, etc.).
